Bugs + Fixes

It has now been several months since the introduction of Release 6. We are glad to see that this new release proved very robust and that only few bugs have been reported to us. As always, we take this column to brief you on the reported problems of Release 6.0:

• When using module 2.11 for modifying the base network of an already assigned scenario, the assignment flags were not always reset properly, so that the scenario still appeared with the assigned flag in the status information, even though the assignment results were no longer available.
• In the transit line editor, module 2.22, the feature for modifying a line itinerary erroneously generated an error 59 when the modified itinerary had exactly the same number of line segments as the original itinerary.
• In the matrix calculator, module 3.21, a bug caused problems when trying to save the result of a computation into a columnwise full matrix (/c flag). Since the columnwise storage format for full matrices is normally used only internally during transit assignments, this bug does not affect any standard application of EMME/2.
• In module 5.21, the dialog summary of iteration 0 of a variable demand assignment displayed an invalid number of vehicles (instead of 0). Note that this bug occurred only on certain systems and was purely on the level of the display, but did not affect the correctness of the computations.
• The scenario substitution %s% in file names did not work correctly in the menu commands reports=, plots=, batchout= and batchin=.
• On DOS systems only, due to a small compiler bug, the new macro command ~?tx= did not work correctly and the GPR utility did not recognize file names starting with ``..\.

As you can see from the above list, none of these bugs interferes with any important functionality of the EMME/2 software. Nevertheless, all these problems have been corrected in Release 6.1 and 6.2 updates.
