INRO Announcements

Agents

We are pleased to announce that INRO has appointed several new agents:

In Korea, the company name of INRO's agent has changed to Boyoun TMS Co.Ltd., following the extension of the company scope, and its promotion to a corporate company. The Institut für Bahntechnik GmbH is no longer INRO's agent for Germany. EMME/2 users in that country may directly contact INRO in Montreal. For more details on INRO's agents and distributors, please consult the back page.

EMME/2 licence sizes

As of February 1, 1997, all the standard sizes of EMME/2 licences have been increased by 25%. All EMME/2 users who have a valid software support agreement will receive the new increased size licences with the distribution of Release 9 which is planned for the spring of 1998. Any user who wishes to benefit immediately from the increased licence sizes may do so by requesting a licence exchange which is subject to the usual fee.

Windows NT

We are pleased to announce that the Windows NT port of EMME/2 has been completed. After a fairly lengthy test of internal alpha versions, we expect that beta test versions will be sent out at the end of October, and that the general distribution will follow in November.

Data conversion service

Over the past few years, in response to user requests, INRO has developed some expertise in converting network and matrix data from the format used by other software packages into the format used by EMME/2. INRO is willing to share this knowledge and offers the conversion service at no cost to any EMME/2 user.

INRO staff

Three new members have joined INRO's technical team. Ms.Gabriela Simonka, M.Sc. Civil Engineering, Mr.Eric Le Saux, M.Sc.Computer Science, and Mr.Zvi Leve, M.Sc. Operations Research, will work in technical documentation, software development and software quality assurance, respectively.

Ms.Madeleine Achard retired in January of this year, after ten faithful years of service. She is replaced by Ms.Christine Côté as Administrative Assistant. Our administrative team now also includes Mr.Roger Brochu in accounting functions, and Mr.Irving Ptack as Comptroller.

Mr.Jia Hao Wu, Ph.D., who had been collaborating with INRO on several applied projects has joined us on a full time basis since last September. He is coordinating communications with organizations in the P.R.of China and is conducting technical assignments as well.

To accomodate this staff increase, INRO's offices were expanded (once more!) in June of this year.

Our classroom also benefited from the expansion of INRO's offices. This means more air, more space, and brand-new computers!
